Armour Recipes in Minecraft

Minecraft is a game in which you are required to battle evil mobs such as zombies, witches, zombie piglins, etc who are out there to attack you the minute they set their eyes on you. In order to protect yourself from their attacks and several other mobs who want to harm you, you will need an armour that can protect you well. Armour in Minecraft is very valuable. In fact, it is amongst one of the most valuable objects in Minecraft. Having a good armour is crucial because that increases your chances of survival and mitigates the damage exacted on you upon any sort of an attack. Like all other objects and items in Minecraft you have the option of crafting and making your own armour so that you are never short of protection. In this article we will discuss various armour recipes for you to choose the one that suits you. However, before we step into that let us take some time to understand what exactly armours are in Minecraft and how many kinds of armour are there in the gameplay Armour Recipes in Minecraft.

Armour in Minecraft

In a nutshell Armour in Minecraft is an item that provides you with different levels of protection from various mobs throughout the game. An armour consists of:

  • Helmets: a type of armour that covers your head. There are seven types of helmets in Minecraft namely, chainmail helmet, leather cap, gold helmet, diamond helmet, netherite helmet, and turtle shell.
  • Chestplates: a type of armour that covers your upper body. There six types of chestplates in total in Minecraft specifically, gold, netherite, iron, diamond, chainmail, and leather.
  • Leggings: this type of armour covers your lower body. There are six types of leggings in minecraft which includes chainmail leggings, iron leggings, gold leggings, diamond leggings, leather leggings, and netherite leggings.
  • Boots: this type of armour covers your feet. Like the rest of the armour even boots have six types in minecraft which include chainmail boots, leather boots, diamond boots, iron boots, gold boots, and netherite boots.

All of these types of armours have designated space in your inventory. Upon acquiring any of these armour you can place them in their designated spots in your inventory in order to equip them whenever necessary. Remember that each item consumes one inventory slot and they cannot be stacked on top of each other. It is also usually advisable for you to keep an armour on your avatar’s body at all times as there are always chances of being attacked by enemy mobs.

Furthermore, in Minecraft you have the option of repairing, upgrading, and crafting your armour. When you are repairing an armour remember that you will need specific material to repair specific armour. Each material used will repair your armour 25 percent and increase its durability. While upgrading, remember that you can combine your armour and an item together in order to form a more durable armour. For example, you can combine diamond boots with netherite ingots to increase the durability of the boots.

Moreover, if you are looking to acquire armoury naturally without crafting then you will find an armour stand in the taiga village. The armour stands in that village have an iron chestplate and an iron helmet. If that is not enough then you can always collect armour from mobs who drop their armour when killed. Zombies and skeletons who spawn with armour can sometimes drop their armour when killed by you. However, remember that the armour dropped can vary from zero to any amount of durability since it has already taken attack from you. Also, mobs such as zombified piglins and wither skeletons always drop any armour that they have picked when they die. If they are wearing an enchanted armour then that armour retains the enchantment when dropped.

The most common armour in Minecraft is leather armour. This can be bought from villagers who are leather workers and they come in different colours as well. Speaking of which, you also have the option of colouring your armour with any dye you like. All you have to do is craft the armour using the dye in the crafting table or fill a cauldron with water, add your dye to that cauldron and then use the armour on the cauldron.

In addition, while armour can protect you very well you must remember that every armour has a certain limit of durability. Once that limit is crossed then the armour will no longer be able to protect you. Simply put, as the attack increases the armour strength or the armour’s ability to protect you decreases. Attacks such as getting hit by a fireball or damage from explosions, lightning and laser beams all cause damage to the armour as well. However, damages such as drowning, starvation, suffocating, falling, touching camp fire, etc does not cause damage to the armour in general. The most protective piece of armour is the chestplate followed by the legging.

Furthermore, your armour can also be enchanted. Enchantments can increase the durability of your armour or protect you against damages that your armour could not without the enchantment, such as damage from falling or damage from fire. It is also important to note that damage reduction from enchantments does not deduct or reduce the durability of your armour. Therefore, having enchantments on your armour is a great idea to keep your armour’s durability in-check and have it last you for a long time. The material of the armour determines the kind of enchantments that it can take. If your armour material has higher enchantability then it can get multiple as well as high level enchantments.

This is everything you need to know in order to understand armours in Minecraft. Now that we have had a look at this let us begin to discuss and explore the armour recipes in Minecraft.

Armour Recipes in Minecraft

There are different kinds of armours in Minecraft that you can craft. To be specific, there are six different types of armour: leather armour, chain armour, gold armour, iron armour, diamond armour, and netherite armour. The exception here is the chain armour because you cannot craft that armour yourself you can only find that armour and then use it. Leather armour is the basic armour in the gameplay and offers the weakest protection. Diamond armour and netherite armour are the strongest that provide you with the best protection. The iron armour reduces damage by sixty percent and the gold armour reduces damage by forty four percent.

The first step to crafting your own armour is to decide which kind of armour you want to craft, is it gold, leather, diamond, netherite, or iron. Once you have decided which armour you want to craft, the next step is for you to assemble the materials for that armour. Remember that you will need twenty four pieces of your chosen material to create a full set of armour.

  • Leather: you will need to kill cows to accumulate leather. Depending on how much leather each animal mob drops you will have to kill either fewer or more than 24.
  • Iron: you will have to mine iron blocks to get iron. You will have to mine 24 iron blocks to get 24 iron ore.
  • Gold: like iron you will have to mine gold as well. Mining 24 gold blocks will help you get 24 gold ores. You will have to mine deep because gold blocks are usually found deep underground.
  • Diamond: you will have to mine diamond in order to get 24 diamond blocks. Remember that diamonds are found very deep underground and are very rare.

If you want to create iron or gold armour then you will need eight cobblestones and some fuel. Once you have that you are going to have to open your furnace and start smelting the items. You can do this by placing the smelting materials in the top box of the furnace and the fuel in the bottom box of the furnace. Once the materials are smelted you can transfer them into your inventory. After doing this you can begin to craft your armour.

Crafting armour is easy, all you need to do is:

  • Open your crafting table
  • To craft a helmet you will have to place three armour materials (gold, iron, leather, etc) in the top row of the crafting grid, one in the right side of the second row and one in the left side of the second row with the middle box of the second row remaining empty. Once the armour is crafted you can transfer it into your inventory.
  • To craft a chestplate, place armour materials in all of the boxes except the top middle box. You will receive a chestplate in return which you can then transfer into your inventory.
  • To craft leg pieces what you have to do is place armour materials in the left and right side of the crafting grid with armour material in the middle box of the first row as well. The leggings will have been crafted and you can transfer it to your inventory.
  • If you want to craft boots then you will have to place two armour materials in the first two rows of the crafting table in the far left side and the far right side with the middle boxes remaining empty. Once you do that you will successfully receive your crafted boots which you can transfer into your inventory.
Conclusion

Using these simple steps you can craft your own armour and create a whole wardrobe of beautiful armour pieces if you want. Remember that armour is a very important item to have in Minecraft, without it you may not be able to survive for long. So the next time you play Minecraft don’t hesitate to craft as many armour items as you can and show them off to your friends.
