Bad Omen in Minecraft

Players can encounter a variety of status effects in Minecraft, but one in particular sticks out as particularly ominous: the Bad Omen. When players murder a patrol captain in an illager patrol, this effect occurs, and it can have some severe consequences. Bad Omen in Minecraft

In Minecraft, the Bad Omen status effect appears as an illager face with crossed axes beneath it, and it lasts for 100 minutes. Illager patrols may be found all across the Overworld, and they generally consist of a small gang of pillagers led by a patrol captain with a flag. The player will be promptly notified that the Bad Omen status effect has been applied to them when the patrol commander is slain. This indicates that the player has become a target for illagers, and a raid will immediately begin soon the player approaches a hamlet.

Raids are in-game events in Minecraft in which waves of different types of illagers spawn and attack a village. These hostile mobs can include evokers, pillagers, vindicators, and ravagers and can be quite the challenge. The rewards for successfully defending the village from the raid include the loot from the illagers (usually crossbows and emeralds), a totem of undying, as well as the status effect Hero of the Village. This effect leads villagers to offer the player gifts as well as discounts when trading.

In this context, a village is defined as a location with at least one villager present and a claimed bed. In the Java edition of the game, the effectiveness of this status effect may be boosted by killing many patrol commanders. This raises the number of waves and their difficulty while also increasing the prizes.

Players who do not want to take part in a raid and/or do not want to harm residents must either wait 100 minutes before invading a village or find a cow. In Minecraft, cows (as well as their red equivalents, mooshrooms) are excellent producers of milk, which is the only cure for all potion and status effects. Players can approach either animal and click on it to fill the empty bucket with milk after creating a bucket. The Bad Omen condition is removed after drinking this milk, allowing players to access villages without having to launch raids.

The only other method to get rid of the Bad Omen status is to die. This will clear all status effects, although it is plainly inconvenient. It’s worth noting, though, that raids can’t be stopped once they’ve begun. Raids normally finish when all villagers or illagers are killed, or when all the beds in the region are destroyed. Finally, if you want to get rid of the Bad Omen in Minecraft, you only have three options: a bucket of milk, a raid, or death.

Gold nuggets may be found in a variety of constructions’ loot containers. Only players and domesticated wolves can have a bad omen if they kill an illager commander (except those that spawn in raids in Java Edition). The terrible omen effect is triggered when a domesticated wolf kills an illager leader. Other mobs that kill an illager captain don’t get the effect, although they can obtain it via instructions. However, they can’t initiate a raid while in a settlement. This also applies to any other illagers who kill an illager captain, such as arrows fired by a pillager or illusionist.

The bad omen effect does not apply to an iron golem that kills an illager captain.

Effect

When the player launches a raid by entering a specified radius around a bed that a villager has claimed in Java Edition, Bad Omen’s potency influences the possibility for illagers to be armed with enchanted weapons. If the raid is won by the players, the Hero of the Village’s power matches that of the Bad Omen (capped at level 5). Given the difficulty level, Bad Omen levels beyond the first additionally grant a single extra raid wave. For example, in Easy difficulty, there are four waves instead of three, in Normal difficulty, there are six waves instead of five, and in Hard difficulty, there are eight waves instead of seven in Bad Omen II-V.

It always has the same effect in Bedrock Edition, regardless of Bad Omen level. Raid monsters do not receive enchanted weapons or an additional wave as a result of this.

While the player obtains the Bad Omen effect in Bedrock Edition, an animation similar to that seen when dying with the totem of undying appears, with the effect’s emblem revolving on the screen.

When the Hero of the Village effect is activated, the same rules apply.

Bad Omen is a status effect that can be eliminated by any means available, including drinking milk or dying.

If the player is in a village, the player can still get the bad omen effect via orders (all illager captains despawn in peaceful), but it will not initiate a raid.

Mobs that are immune to attack

Only boss mobs are immune to Bad Omen, but only players and tamed wolves may initiate raids; other creatures with Bad Omen in a town do not initiate raids.
