How to Breed Chickens in Minecraft

Minecraft gameplay has been evolving almost every year. The developers have been adding new features and new mobs to make the game even more interesting and intuitive. One of the great things about Minecraft is that it has close ties to reality and depends on being realistic rather than too fictional. For that purpose it has several animal mobs such as sheeps, wolves, pigs, chicken, and many more which can be bred, spawned, and even gathered into a farm. Turtles are amongst these animals and, as it turns out, are pretty valuable in Minecraft. Before we learn how to hatch turtle eggs let’s take a look at turtles in general and how they can be useful to you.

Turtles and Turtle Eggs in Minecraft

Turtles are generally found near the shore of the ocean in Minecraft. They are docile mobs that don’t harm you when you walk up to them or when you are spotted by them. Since they live near the shore that’s where they build their homes and that’s where they go to lay their eggs when they are ready.

How to Hatch Turtle Eggs in Minecraft?

Turtle eggs are usually found in clusters and come in different sizes with green dots on the outer shell of the egg. It is important to note that when turtle eggs are about to hatch they become very fragile. If eggs are attacked by a mob before they are about to hatch then they will break and you won’t spot any young turtles spawn from them. Objects falling on the eggs will also result in breaking the eggs. Mobs such as zombies enjoy trampling turtle eggs, if they spot eggs around them then they will surely move towards them to cause the eggs maximum damage. However, if turtles walk over them or come in contact with them then the eggs will not be damaged. This goes for only turtle mobs and does not apply to any other mob in Minecraft. That is why it is important to be very careful near turtle eggs just when they are about to hatch.

Moreover, if you decide to move your turtle eggs then remember that they can only be moved using a Silk Touch enchanted tool. If you try to move the eggs using a piston then they will break and you won’t get any ‘drops’. Also, while turtle eggs can be placed anywhere in the Minecraft gameplay, they will only hatch on a Sand Block or a Red Sand Block.

Another important thing to note is that turtles won’t voluntarily lay eggs in Minecraft. You will have to breed them in order to provoke them to lay eggs. You can breed two turtles together using seagrass. When you feed seagrass to two turtles you will see hears appearing around them. That is an indication of them being ready to mate. After they have mated, one turtle will return to its house and lay one to four eggs. It is advisable to follow the turtle back home and take a note of the coordinates so that you are able to find the eggs again if you have to.

This covers everything about turtles and turtle eggs in Minecraft, now let’s move on to the main topic of the article: how to hatch turtle eggs in Minecraft.

How to Hatch Turtle Eggs?

Typically it takes five in-game days for the turtle eggs to hatch. They grow faster during the night than in the day and it is likely that they will hatch at night. Their growth can be measured as per the cracks on the eggs. Once an egg has three cracks then that means that it is about to hatch. If all eggs are on the same block then all eggs will hatch together even if one was placed before the other. You must also remember that you must stay within 128 blocks of the turtle eggs or else the hatching process of the eggs will be delayed. Once the eggs hatch and baby turtles come out they will move towards the ocean water. Feeding baby turtles seagrass will speed up their growing process into adults.

If you want to increase the hatching process of the turtle eggs then you can use the Random Tick Speed command in Minecraft to do so. You can change the tick speed from 3 (default speed) to higher using this command. You can do this by entering this command in the chat box: “/gamerule randomTickSpeed 900 (or any speed you want)”.
