In Minecraft, the torch is the most basic light source. It can be placed on the top or side of any opaque block. A torch placed in a cold biome will melt snow and ice within a short distance. Some products, such as the Jack’o’Lantern, need the use of a torch. The torch is simple to construct in the player’s inventory, and normal charcoal will suffice. In the abandoned mineshaft or settlement, you can find torches.

Ingredients Required

One stick and a chunk of coal or charcoal are all you need to produce a torch. You do not require both. Along with a stick, either of the two types of material will suffice. In short, the required materials are:

Any set of the above mentioned materials is, independently, enough to make a torch.

How to make a Torch in Minecraft

Crafting Torch

One piece of stick and one piece of coal are all you’ll need to make a torch. To begin, place the log pieces in your crafting grid to turn them into wooden planks. Make sticks using the planks by using the crafting grid once more.

Collect or mine a bit of coal once you’ve finished making the sticks. You’ll need a pickaxe for this. In the crafting GUI, use planks and sticks to build a pickaxe. Gather the pickaxe you’ve made and set out to explore the stone blocks. There is plenty of coal to be found just there. Collect a piece of coal from a mine.

Remember that you can only mine coal with the wooden pickaxe. All other ores must be mined with an iron or stone pickaxe.

Go to your crafting table now that you have all of the supplies to construct a torch. Place one of the coal pieces you have on the crafting grid’s middle square. Place the wooden stick in the square beneath the coal at this point. You’ve now created a torch. Add it to your inventory by dragging it there.

The first thing you’ll need is a stick, which can be made from a wooden log obtained by felling trees. As indicated, 1 block of wooden log yields 4 blocks of wooden planks.

Now, by putting two blocks of wooden planks together, you’ll get four sticks.

The second material you’ll need is coal, which you can obtain by first digging underground for coal ore and then gathering it with a pickaxe.

To get the coal, install the furnace on the ground and fill it with coal ore and any other fuel source as illustrated.

To make the torch, place a stick and a coal inside a crafting table as indicated.

The most essential advantage of having a torch is that it prevents critters from entering your structures, such as the house you’ve built. It also aids with the illumination of spots when you’re exploring beneath, lowering your chances of dying or getting into trouble. It’s always a good idea to keep a couple of spare torches on hand.
