How to Make an Eye of Ender in Minecraft

In “Minecraft’s” Survival mode, how to find and build an End Portal
As soon as you build your world in “Minecraft’s” default mode, Survival, multiple broken End Portals appear underground. To use them, you must first locate the underground stronghold and restore it with Ender’s Eyes.
Quick tip: All strongholds in “Minecraft: Java Edition” have an End Portal. Not all strongholds in “Minecraft: Bedrock Edition,” also known as “Minecraft for Windows 10,” have one.
You don’t have to mindlessly strip mine the map to find a fortress, thankfully. The same Eyes of Ender can be used to locate strongholds.
Locating the end Portal
You’ll need Eyes of Ender to locate the stronghold, which operate as sort of magical compasses for locating strongholds.
But it’ll take some effort. Here’s how to do it step by step.

- Expert-level cleric villagers in “Java Edition” have a 66 percent chance of trading you an Ender Pearl for 4-5 emeralds. This trade is guaranteed to be available in “Bedrock Edition.”
- Endermen, the tall monsters who only attack when gazed at, will drop Ender Pearls 25% of the time when killed.
- Piglins, the pig-like villagers who will attack you unless you are wearing gold, can give you Ender Pearls in the Nether. If you place a gold ingot in front of one, it will study it for a few moments before handing you a random item, which may be a pair of Ender Pearls. However, this is quite uncommon.
After that, you’ll require Blaze Powder.
- Go to the Nether and kill the blazing creatures known as Blazes who reside in Nether Fortresses. When you kill one, there’s a 50% chance it’ll drop a blazing rod.
- One blaze rod yields two units of blaze powder when used in a crafting method.
Make an Ender’s Eye
One Ender Pearl and one unit of Blaze Powder can be combined to make Ender Eyes.
You just need one to find the stronghold, but it’s possible that you’ll need up to 12 to fix the broken End Portal.
Throw the Eye of Ender, follow, and repeat to find a stronghold.
As previously stated, the Eye of Ender functions as a compass. The Eye of Ender will rise high into the air and move a few metres away when you throw it. It goes in the same direction as the nearest stronghold.
The Eye will either fall to the ground for you to pick up and use again after a little while, or it may shatter in mid-air. There’s a 20% chance of shattering the Eye every time you throw it.
Simply throw the Eye of Ender, follow it, and then throw it again to find a fortress. It’ll be tedious and take several minutes, but the end result will be worth it: you’ll arrive to a stronghold.
The Eye of Ender will eventually cease traveling in one direction and begin to settle in one location. Start drilling straight down from that point. Directly beneath you is the stronghold.
Digging just below where the Eye of Ender landed resulted in a landing location in the stronghold.
Don’t rejoice just yet if you’ve made it inside the stronghold. We still need to locate the portal room, where the End Portal is broken. Three pools of lava, as well as a staircase leading up to a monster spawner and the damaged portal, can be found in the portal room.
The Eye of Ender should have directed you to the “start” of the maze-like stronghold. We know the End Portal is often less than 10 “rooms” away from the stronghold’s start location thanks to devoted Minecraft data miners.

You’re almost done when you get to the gateway room. Fill in all of the lava and destroy the monster spawner for safety. Any unpleasant occurrences will be avoided as a result of this.
The broken End Portal may be found at the top of the stairwell. The complete frame of the portal is present, but a few of Ender’s Eyes will be missing. To activate the construction, carefully fill in all of the missing pegs with Eyes of Ender.

In “Minecraft” Creative Mode, here’s how to create an End Portal.
An End Portal’s frame elements cannot be created. In Creative mode, however, you can discover these frames (along with Eyes of Ender) in your inventory and freely arrange them.

How to Get Ender’s Eyes in Minecraft
Eyes of Ender are devices that you build in Minecraft to locate and trigger portals between locations. End Portals rely on them.
One Ender Pearl and one Blaze Powder are required to create an Ender’s Eye. After that, check to see if you have a crafting table and proceed to it. If you’re playing on a PC, right-click to utilise the crafting table; if you’re playing on a console, use the left trigger.
