Kelp is a handy little seaside plant that has some great benefits and is pretty easy to find. It may be used as compost, a snack (if dried), or even as furnace fuel in Minecraft.
In Minecraft’s Survival and Hardcore modes, there are only a few methods to collect kelp, despite its ease of acquisition. It can obviously be plucked from the inventory at will in Creative Mode, but there are a few specified techniques for getting it otherwise. Things may change as Mojang continues to develop the game, but there are currently just a few methods to collect kelp. Fortunately, all of these methods are easy and uncomplicated.

It can be discovered underwater
Kelp may be found clustered throughout the ocean floor, with seagrass, in the majority of ocean biomes (excluding warm, frozen, and deep frozen variations). To harvest it, all players have to do is shatter it with their open hand or a tool, which is made easier by the fact that it floats upward to the water’s surface for collecting. When a kelp stalk is broken at a given point, all sections of the stalk above it are likewise broken.
In addition, as of the 1.18 update, players may use shears to trim the tip of a kelp stalk and prevent it from sprouting. However, this does not assist players in obtaining more kelp.
Using bone meal to feed kelp
If Minecraft players have previously found some kelp and need a bit more from a particular stalk, they can use bone meal to help them out. As long as the kelp stalk has enough area to develop and enough water to immerse it, doing so should boost the height of the stalk by one each time the bone meal is employed. This strategy doesn’t actually help players discover kelp, but it does let them get more out of the stalks they do find underwater.
The Wandering Trader sells kelp
When a journey to the beach isn’t possible, players can buy kelp from the Wandering Trader for three emeralds. This isn’t always optimal because the Wandering Trader’s inventory varies with each journey, but it is the quickest way for a Minecraft player to get kelp and saves them a voyage to the ocean floor with or without a bone meal.
