1. Set up the Anvil

Once you’ve gathered the necessary materials, add the anvil to your hotbar as a usable item.

After then, set your cursor (the + symbol) on the block where you want the anvil to go. In your game window, the block should get highlighted.

The game control to place the anvil depends on the version of Minecraft:

For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the block.

For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap on the block.

For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.

For PS3 and PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.

For Wii U, press the ZL button on the gamepad.

For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.

For Windows 10 Edition, right click on the block.

For Education Edition, right click on the block.

2. Make use of the Anvil

You must stand in front of the anvil to utilise it.

The game control to use the anvil depends on the version of Minecraft:

3. Give the Sword a Name

Place the sword you want to rename in the first slot to begin renaming it. In this case, we have a stone sword in the first slot, and the name for this item is “Stone Sword.”

Put a new name for this item here. Excalibur is the name we’d want to give our stone sword in this case.

The named sword may be found in the third slot. To name the stone sword, you’ll need two levels of expertise.

4. Place the Named Sword in your inventory.

Move the designated sword to your inventory hotbar from the third slot.

Instead of Stone Blade, the new name (Excalibur) will display on the screen when you choose your sword in your hotbar.
