Minecraft Color Codes

Minecraft Color Codes

The ability to customize your Minecraft experience is quite important. Any Minecraft player will most likely agree. The vanilla game is a lot of fun on its own, but it’s the flexibility players have to muck around with the environment with little to no restrictions that keep them coming back.

When playing Minecraft, you may see a variety of painted, bold, or strikethrough lettering in either your mod or your world. This article may be useful if you want to learn how color codes operate and how to modify text using them. Minecraft’s creators, Mojang, have devised a coding system for the game, which was released in 2011. The unique section sign map editor in Minecraft may be used to format all of the text. You must input the section sign codes and know which ones to enter if you wish to paint or change the text in Minecraft.

Minecraft Color Codes

Minecraft color codes are divided into two categories: vanilla color codes and Bukkit color codes. Vanilla color codes function in single-player and on vanilla Minecraft servers, but they alter depending on whether you’re using them in chat or in your daily message. Color codes for Bukkit will work on public servers like BreakdownCraft, Hypixel, and others, as well as any other large server. They’ll also function on any Bukkit server or one of its branches, such as Spigot, Paper, Taco, or any other Bukkit server version.

If the digit is preceded by the “§” sign, Minecraft will recognize the color codes as such. To be sure, it’s a unique sign that isn’t easily seen on a normal keyboard. Here’s how to write it:

  • On a Windows US/UK English Keyboard: Alt + NUMPAD2, NUMPAD1
  • On a Windows ANSI Keyboard (or any other keyboard): Alt + NUMPAD0, NUMPAD1, NUMPAD6, NUMPAD7
  • On a Mac US English Keyboard: ⌥ Option + 6 | ⌥ Option + 5 (for US Extended)
  • On a MAC Keyboard (any other type of keyboard): ⌥ Option + 00a7
  • On a Linux with Compose Key activated: Compose, s, o

On Bedrock Edition, you may copy-paste the character using the normal commands (ctrl + v for Windows and cmd + v for Mac). However, keep in mind that certain Minecraft text fields aren’t editable (such as chat windows, command blocks, world names, etc.).

Changing the style of your text is as easy as changing the color of the text. After selecting the font color, you may also alter the font style, which includes bold, italic, and many other options. The below table contains a list of all the Minecraft style codes for various fonts.

** Spigot, Bukkit, Paper Minecraft Color Codes

The aforementioned color codes will function with Bukkit servers and forks for anything from chat formatting to plugin messages to holograms; in fact, these color codes are used for virtually everything on a Bukkit server. These color codes are even used to update the day’s message on BungeeCord servers.

Note: Servers running Bukkit and its forks will need to adjust the colors of the message displayed on the multiplayer screen when your server is added using the MOTD formatting above.

**Chat Code for Vanilla Minecraft

You may use the above color codes to format chat on a vanilla Minecraft server, which is a server without any modifications and is not hosted on Bukkit or one of its forks. The Message of the Days (MOTDs) will be formatted in a different color code manner, as shown above.

**MOTD

Only use the above codes to change the message of the day (MOTD) on a Minecraft server that isn’t connected to a BungeeCord network. You’ll need Bukkit color codes if you’re using BungeeCord.

**HEX

While you won’t be utilizing these in Minecraft, we thought that adding the HEX codes for Minecraft colors could be valuable to developers and designers who wouldn’t be able to locate them readily otherwise.

Minecraft Color Codes and Minecraft Styling Codes are just a handful of the other ways Minecraft allows its players to personalize their games. Changing the text or color may not have a direct influence on gameplay by imposing benefits (or disadvantages, even). However, it has the potential to increase people’s enjoyment of the game. Minecraft is a huge game that never ceases to evolve. The developers are constantly adding new features and upgrades, so you’re always on the lookout for what’s next.

As we mentioned at the start, customization and modification have always been important aspects of the Minecraft experience. Indeed, there is a sizable market for Minecraft mods (although we use that term loosely, as most Minecraft mods are free).
