The Wither is a three-headed ghostly mob with a skeletal look that floats through the air. After the Ender Dragon, it is the second boss mob to be introduced in the game.
Except for zombie monsters, the Wither is hostile to the player and all other mobs ( Skeletons, Zombies, Zombie Pigmen, Wither Skeletons, and other Withers). When provoked by a skeleton or another Wither, they will only be hostile for a brief period of time before returning to a friendly state. If spawned in The End, it will prefer to attack any surrounding Endermen, but if there are no nearby targets, it will attempt to follow and fight the Ender Dragon.
The Wither is a fast-moving creature. When the Wither notices a mob, he assaults them with the “Wither Skull,” a projectile. On Normal and Hard difficulties, Wither Skulls cause the status effect “Wither II.” This effect is similar to poison, except that it has the potential to kill the player and makes the health bar black, making it difficult to discern how many hearts are still full at a glance. Except for Bedrock and End Portal Frame, the wither may break any block. It may also annihilate Obsidian, which is noted for its resistance to TNT and extended mining time.
How to Build a Wither Boss in Minecraft
When the Wither reaches half health, it gains the “Wither Armor” effect, which renders it impervious to arrows and potions but not melees strikes and gives it a visual appearance similar to that of a Charged Creeper. The Wither is unable to fly while in this state. When calm, the Wither is unable to fly; it simply floats above the ground and is unable to “jump” up one block. When the player is enraged, the Wither will fly at the same altitude as the player. The Wither is injured by Potions of Healing and healed by Potions of Harming, just like other undead mobs (zombies, skeletons, etc.). It regenerates throughout time as well. When the Wither is fully charged, it will explode, so stay away from it while it spawns.

Items required to build a Wither Boss
To build a wither boss, you will need to combine the following materials:
- Three Wither Skeleton Skulls
To obtain Wither Skeleton Skull, kill the black skeletons known as Wither Skeletons, which can be found in Nether castles (in the console edition, they spawn elsewhere in the Nether as well). They carry a stone sword. Wither Skeletons have a 2.5 percent chance of dropping a skull.
- Four Soul Sand
Soul sand is dark sand that may be found all around the Nether.

- Firstly collect all the required items.
- You will need to make sure you’re ready for the struggle with the Wither, before spawning it. Because the combat could go a while and finish somewhere underground, it’s a good idea to have a few Potions of Night Vision on hand. This is due to the fact that the Wither will very certainly extinguish your torches. Golden Apples (particularly enchanted ones) or Regeneration, Healing, or Strength Potions are also quite useful.
The Wither will demolish any block it comes into contact with, and its projectiles will create explosions as well. Make sure you don’t start the combat too close to any structures or characters you’d like to keep safe.
- Unlike most items in the game, you don’t require a Crafting Table to build a Wither Boss. Instead, you must arrange the blocks in a certain pattern on the ground.
- Stack two soul sands on top of one another. The Wither Boss’s body will be made up of these blocks.
- Two of the four soul sands are still in your inventory. On each side of the top-most block, place one soul sand.
- Now, for the heads of the wither, use two wither skeleton skulls and place them over either side.
- Finally, place the last skeleton skull over the middle soul sand. However, be careful because as soon as you add the last skull, the wither will spawn and start destroying everything.
