Trees are the major source of wood in Minecraft, which is a valuable resource that you will require regularly during the game. Knowing how to grow a tree in Minecraft will save you time & expense by allowing you to obtain wood without having to travel far. Trees don’t regrow on their own in the game, so you’ll have to grow them manually at times to gain additional forests. Growing various types of trees in your base is another excellent method to adorn it.

The height of trees varies greatly, ranging from a bare minimum of 1 log block for bush trees to a maximum of 30 log blocks for enormous jungle trees.

Leaf bricks make up tree canopies, which grow one block higher than the highest log block. The canopy can start from the ground and extend up to 6 blocks above it. Tree canopies are made up of roughly spherical clusters of leaves that are 5–7 blocks across and are centered on the trunk or branch portions. Leaves must be supported by a neighboring trunk (or leaf blocks attached to the trunk); otherwise, they will fall off.

Branches grow on large oak, dark oak, and gigantic jungle trees. A single tree usually contains between one and six branches, with each branch having between one and six logs. The branches of Acacia trees are not covered in this way.   Branches are absent from ordinary oak, jungle, birch, and spruce trees.

Trees can be grown from saplings or can be created when chunks are generated.

When tree saplings decay or are destroyed, they have a 1/20 chance of dropping from leaf blocks (1/40 if they are jungle saplings). Oak, birch, spruce, jungle, acacia, and dark oak are the six principal tree species represented by saplings.

The sapling can be planted on any type of dirt (excluding dirt path) or moss block, and the sapling block must have a light level of at least 8.

Unless it has an unobstructed view of the sky, a seedling uproots in a sapling block with light level 7 or less (except by glass or other transparent materials). To grow, the sapling needs at least 6 blocks of space above it, the quantity of space required varies depending on the tree species. The greatest height of the tree that can develop from a sapling is limited by a ceiling above it. Dirt blocks and logs, on the other hand, may not prevent tree growth and may even be replaced as a sapling attempts to grow through them. Logs, on the other hand, prevent tree growth in the Bedrock edition.

After passing a light check and deciding on a size to try, a tree checks to see whether there is adequate room for its selected size. If it runs across an obstruction during this check, it will fail to grow and will have to wait until the following pass to try again. This means that a tree in an open field with enough light will grow reasonably rapidly, whereas a tree in a crowded tree farm will have to try numerous times before finally sprouting.

When put on a sapling, the bone meal has a chance of forcing it to grow if all other checks (light, space, dirt, etc.) have been passed. It doesn’t ensure growth, but it does drive you to attempt.

In the Nether and the End, all saplings grow normally, however they must be planted in dirt brought in from the Overworld and given enough light and space. The color of leaf blocks in the Nether is the same as they would be in a desert biome. In the end, they’re a dismal bluish-green, similar to the biome of windswept hills.

Four saplings must be placed near each other in a square to produce a 2×2 tree (be it spruce, jungle, or dark oak).  Any of the saplings can be treated with bone meal. The tallest jungle and spruce trees stand at a height of 31 blocks. The average height of a dark oak tree is 6–8 blocks.

Leaves and logs that are cut from a tree do not regrow.

When a sapling grows into a tree on a grass block or mycelium, the grass block or mycelium is immediately transformed into the dirt.

How to Grow a Tree in Minecraft

Now that you know about Trees in Minecraft, let’s discuss how to grow one.

Items required to grow a Tree

  • One Tree Sapling

You’ll need a sapling, which you can get from existing trees before you can plant a tree. Because different types of trees grow in different regions, you must know where to seek them:

  • Acacia trees can only be found in the Savanna biome natively.
  • Birch trees can spawn in a variety of locations, although they are most typically found in the birch forest biome and are easily identifiable due to their white trunks.
  • Only the Roofed Forest biome produces dark oak trees.
  • Only the jungle biome contains jungle trees.
  • Forest, Extreme Hills, Swampland, and Jungle Edge are just a few of the biomes where oak trees can be found.
  • Spruce trees grow best in the Taiga biome, but they can also occur naturally in the ColdTaiga, Mega Taiga, and Extreme Hills biomes.

The simplest approach to harvesting a sapling is to cut down the tree.

Using an axe to cut down a tree makes it easier, but you can also accomplish it with your own hands.

  • Five Bone Meal

To collect the bones needed to make Bone Meal, you’ll have to hunt down and kill Skeletons. When it is killed, it will drop a bone at random. To make the bone meal, use the skeleton bones. Next, open the Crafting Table. Place one skeleton bone in the middle column in the middle row of your 3×3 crafting grid.
