• A command block that executes commands once is called an impulse command block.
• The command of a chain command block is not executed until it is activated.
• Until it is no longer enabled, a repeat command block executes its command once every game tick (or more [Bedrock Edition only]).

When an impulse command block is engaged, it checks to see if the command block in front of it has completed properly (if in conditional mode). If the condition is met before the delay (if in “Conditional” mode), it runs its command once and activates the chain command block it is pointing to after a delay of 1 game tick (or more [BE only]).

When a repeat command block is triggered, it checks whether the command block behind it has performed successfully (if in conditional mode) after 1 game tick (no matter how many “Delay in Ticks” there are). If the condition is met, and “Execute on First Tick” is enabled in Bedrock Edition, the command is executed once and the chain command block to which it is pointing is triggered. It then verifies, runs, and activates the chain command block again after 1 game tick (or longer [Bedrock Edition only]) if it is still active.

It also updates the command’s success count when it executes the command: If the command block behind it failed to run successfully when in “Conditional” mode, it resets the success count to 0. Otherwise, it defaults to the command’s success count.

Acquiring Command Block in Minecraft

You need to turn on Cheats in your world to run game Commands.

You’ll need to use a specific console command to get the command block. Bring up your console command bar and type in the following syntax:

/give @s command block

If this does not work, replace @s with your username so that the game gets to send the command block to you individually when you play.

Entering the Command in Minecraft

1. In Minecraft, the simplest way to run a command is from the chatbox. The game control for opening the chat window varies depending on the Minecraft version:

• If you’re using Java Edition on a PC or Mac, you can open the chat window by pressing the “T” key.
• You must tap on the chat button at the top of the screen if you are using Pocket Edition (PE).

/give John command_block

In the chat window, type the command. As you type, a command will pop up in the lower-left corner of the game window. To run the command, press the Enter key.

The command block will be added to the player’s inventory once the cheat has been entered.

In the lower-left corner of the game window, you’ll see the message “Given [Command Block] x 1 to John.” You have now given player John one command block.

Directions to use Command Block in Minecraft

There are many methods to use the command block, but let’s start with one of the most simple. To fully use this block, you must first meet specific requirements. To begin, you must first enter a command inside the block so that it can take action. Let’s summon a pillager captain in this case. Put in the console command as seen in the image below to summon your own pillager commander.

Keep in mind, though, that if you press the plus sign next to the bar where you type your command, it will expand and grow larger.

You’ll need to link a device that will enable you to summon this illager in the first place after you obtain your command. We’ll use a wooden button in this scenario.

When you have that wooden button, make sure you’re crouched before pressing the use button to secure the item. If you don’t crouch, you’ll be taken to the command block’s menu instead.

All you have to do now is click the button when it has been properly attached to the side of your command block, and your pillager captain should emerge in front of you.

Think of the possibilities of what else you can summon into your world with this item since this mob is just one example of what you can summon.
